FAQs:
What is the temperature of a LPG flame ?
LPG flame in air = approx 1400-1980°C (Compared to Oxy/LPG flame = approx 2800°C, or Oxy/Acetylene flame = approx 3100°C).
Note that these temperatures are approximate only. The actual temperature in any application will depend on many factors, such as: Whether the fuel gas flow is laminar/smooth or turbulent, condition of ambient environment such as temperature, humidity, air pressure & many other factors.
What temperature will this torch heat materials to ?
This depends on a lot of factors which vary from one application to another. Some of these are;
a. Flame Exposure: How long the flame is applied to the object, the distance from the flame to the material, torch/flame settings, etc
b. Conductivity: Highly conductive materials will heat up faster/hotter, less conductive materials will be slower to heat.
c. Heat Sink: If heating metal, larger/bulkier items will absorb more heat, take longer to heat and maximum heating temperature will be lower.
Can I use this torch for bending and shaping steel ?
The Platinum LT-40 torch (when fitted with large 65mm tip) is one of the most powerful torches in it's class. It can and has been used for heating and bending/shaping light metal sections, such as thin sheet/bar or thin-wall tube/RHS.
However, in heavier applications (such as shaping heavier / thick section steel) LPG torches may not provide enough heat and/or will not be able to bring the material up to temperature quickly enough. In these applications an Oxy torch is required to achieve the higher temperature and heat "energy / volume" needed.
LPG cylinder pressure varies depending on ambient temperature & other factors.
Heat energy & flame length data is approximate maximum output only & will vary depending on various factors such as cylinder pressure, ambient temperature, regulator and/or valve settings, hose length, etc.

The flame is impressive. I’m using it to burn wood like in the Japanese, Shou Sufi Ban style. Just not as charred. Did 15 broads in a few hours burnt bushed and oiled, Brilliant. This is my first time ever using a touch like this. Simple instructions. An yes l touched a couple of weeds as well.

Comments: I have been looking at market for weed control on my yard. I could have opted for a cheaper brand type but came the Weldclass product. Even better when I found a nicely priced one on ebay selling these, so end of story. This unit is quality, quality and the rest of it. Happy Days, as I did a trial run with some weeds. It's better than using weed poison! Some may say it could be overkill spending a couple of hundred dollars on this, but I already can think of other uses for it. You also get what you pay for and this unit and will last a lifetime!

Just bought this yesterday tested it out on a couple shrubs I couldn’t kill with roundup.OMG this thing is awesome will have to wait until weather is more favourable or winter!The shrub targeted is now ash love it new best friend for weeding ! NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

Needed a gas torch for burning bees wax off then back on to a old wooden basket press. Williams Welding Equipment in Edinburgh had one on the shelf. Comments: AWESOME!! If anyone watches the series 'Forged in Fire' they will understand "it weell kill"! No weed stands a chance with this torch. Easy to assemble & use (I'm an elderly lady). The only thing I needed was an adaptor for a smaller gas bottle, & of course a lighter!
