Promax Welding Helmet Range

Date: 15-05-2021

Just another welding helmet? Think again! Here’s a quick run-down on the features and benefits that have made the Promax series one of the most popular welding helmets Australia wide.

First things first…

With over 30 year’s experience in supplying and designing welding helmets, we know that some features cannot be compromised if you are going to get a reliable helmet and value for money.

Ultra-Clear Optics
This comment from Ashley in Vic (Promax helmet owner) says it all: “I can see!! No really… I CAN SEE. I have tried three helmets [before this] and lost money…. for the first time in my life I am able to see through a welding helmet lens. Thank-you for a great product…”.
In addition to sharp, crisp optics that allow you to see the finer details of your job, Promax helmets* now have ECR (Enhanced Colour Recognition) technology. Without compromising UV & IR protection, ECR increases the spectrum of colours that are visible through the lens, providing an even sharper picture.

Simple & Reliable -vs- Complicated:
We're all about practical features that make a difference... but we are also careful not to over complicate things. When considering the features on our helmets, our first questions are: Will it really improve user experience?  Or is it just something that's exciting to talk about? And will it make the helmet more reliable, or potentially less reliable?
Sure, fancy features such as digital controls may look good on the surface, but often they negatively impact aspects such as reliability and weight/comfort.
Welding professionals & enthusiasts keep telling us that the things they appreciate most about Promax helmets are: reliability, easy to operate, light weight, comfortable & great optics. We promise to keep it that way!

Spatter-Proof Cover Lens Retainer System:
Promax helmets use a “hinge and lock” system. The front cover lens is clamped very firmly in place around the entire perimeter of the lens. This prevents spatter leaking onto the electronic lens (which causes damage and voids warranty)… and replacing the front cover lens is very quick & easy.
Be wary of helmets that have a font-loading cover lens. From experience, we have found that the vast majority of these allow spatter to 'leak' onto the electronic lens - this not only risks damage to the lens, but also permenantly marks the surface and reduces visibility.

Reliable "Full-Laminate" Lens Construction:
Inside an auto-darkening lens are many layers of components. The “easy” way to assemble these components is to glue around the edge. The “best” way is to laminate each layer to the next, across the whole surface area. This is more costly to manufacture, however it results in a lens that is more reliable, more damage resistant and has better optical quality. All Weldclass electronic welding lenses are fully laminated.

Simple & Robust Headgear:
When it comes to headgear design, we think you will agree that “basic & reliable” is always better than “fancy & fragile”! The Promax headgear is simple, yet robust and comfortable.

Superior After-Sales & Warranty Support:
The most amazing welding helmet in the world is not worth much if you can’t get support when something doesn’t work like it should. Let’s face it: this happens to every brand once in a while… and yes on the rare occasion it happens with Promax welding helmets too. Here’s the difference: We strive to offer the most painless & customer-friendly warranty support in the industry. If you have a genuine warranty issue, we’ll sort it with a minimum of fuss so you can get back to your job.

Great question Chris. At this stage, the only size magnification lenses that are produced (world wide) are 108x51mm. This is because tooling costs to manufacture these are extremely expensive, therefore not viable to produce them in various sizes to suit different helmets. The Promax 500 does allow you to position the magnification lens so it is your direct line of vision. You can check out our range of mag lenses here; https://www.weldclass.com.au/product-group/2096-magnification-lenses-108-x-51mm/category/138-magnification-lenses

Hello John, thanks for your question. Yes we certainly intend to carry spares for these helmets for many years to come. We still carry lenses to suit our older model helmets, some of which were superseded 10+ years ago. In fact Weldclass has the largest range of helmet lenses in Australia, we carry lenses to suit many other brands & models helmets – see our lens finder tool here; https://www.weldclass.com.au/clearlensesforweldinghelmets

We do mostly Mig welding mild steel. We usually replace the outer lenses monthly. Are you stocking parts for the Promax 350 and Promax 500 for the next few years? Regards John

Hello Keith, thank you for your query. The Mach6 lens is no longer available. We strongly recommend the ‘Promax 500’ helmet – very clear optics like the Mach6, and larger viewing area. The reviews on this speak for themselves – see this web page; https://www.weldclass.com.au/product-group/2079-welding-helmets-promax-500
